To start of, CONGRATS to STREET C-LAT for being the champion for this competition. I am very proud of u guys, FADLI, YAZID, NAZ and last but not least MUS… I was actually pleasantly suprise when u guys wore our uniform to fight on the last day. That is really an icing on the cake for we won in our uniform.

KK.. Enough of praises to this guys.. Takut nanti melayang ke atas awan tak tau nak turun.. hehehe

K. Just abit of sypnosis of the event. There were 4 teams, STREET C-LAT, KONG POO PANDA, PHOENIX SPARTANS and PENDEKAR MUSTAR… Focus was on Phoenix Spartans as they were the only group which had a mixture of different types of martial arts mainly comprising of muay thai and capuira (i tink wrong spelling… hehe).. Going on… The event was held for 2 days, 1st and 2nd August 2009 at Masjid Al-Mukminin.. To cut the story short, the competition gets very exciting whenever phoenix spartans comes into the gelanggang for their fight.. Overall, it was a good, entertaining and worth watching for… So, insyallah in the month of November, a similar tournament will be held again  in another arena. So, to all u guys and now girls, please keep urself excited, fully equipped and fully energised for this upcoming event.. By the way, videos are already uploaded in the youtube. So, just check it out..

K, to start things off.. I feel like a proud sister looking at all my anak macans promoting their silat to their friends and making them part of our family. For now, i would like to thank Azmi and Mai for their recruitment as now we are having almost 20 students in Cheng San… For me, their abilty to recruit is mainly through their exhibition of their skills  during tanding competition..

I also cannot forget to thank youtube (hehe) and the person who upload the videos their (who else if not abg zul). This is becoz yesterday we had an anak macan who look at the videos at youtube and decide to join us. So to all other anak macan, be inspired to be the best and you will either directly (promoting to frens and family) or indirectly (ur execution of macan moves shown in youtube) be making macan an IN thing in not only Singapore but the whole world… YAY!!!

All right  next agenda, as you all shld know or heard of, the inter martial art tanding competition is going to be held on the 1st and 2nd august 2009 at Masjid Al-Mukiminin. Consent forms are out so please fill in and send to us asap with full payment. There will be a briefing on the 26th of July. By the way those anak macan who are not participating, are most welcome to help us in the logistics side.. So, if you wish to help pls call or msg me or abg zul. I really can’t wait to see all anak macan executing all the macan moves and competing not only against silat but other forms of martial arts. GD LUCK MY BROTHERS!!!

Next, currently right now there are 2 major events (insyallah)  in the planning stage…

They are : -

1. Opening of new gelanggangs

- We are planning to expand our gelanggangs to the east side (possible areas: Tampines, Bedok and Jurong Area). This is so we are able to recruit people from the east to appreaciate and learn our style. So to anak macans who have been informed about this issue, pls assist in locating which RCs we are going to so that we are able to promote our style there. Anything, pls contact me or abg zul. There will also be a small workshop in preparing you guys for this expansion. So, just be on the look out and promote this event to your frens and family in the east side..

2. Macan Camp 2009

- Alright for this event, it is still in the very early stage. I will update you guys frm time to time abt its progress. As of now, the date will be tentatively during the december holidays. Currently, we are looking out for sponsors for this event. So to all anak macans, if you guys have anyone who might be interested in sponsoring this event, pls do contact me or abg zul.. THKS!!

Have you check out our website, abg jali our australian expansion (hehe) has just recently held a combined training with 3 other perguruans. Wau!! Just look at the videos and you will see our australian anak macans.. Just take a look and it explains everything..

Lastly, on the 4th of July, me, abg zul and fadli went to a keris appreciation workshop. It was quite interesting as the speaker was talking about the origins and the process of making the keris. I myself was quite intrigue in the meaning behind keris. Anyway, my purpose of talking abt this is that Macan Association is still in the negotiation process of actually doing an evolution show to promote the keris, olahraga and seni. More will be written once everything is confirmed. Just wanna tell u anak macans that if this evolution show is a good success (insyallah) we might be travelling to places like Australia, Germany and even Middle East to promote our silat. This is really a major event if it pulls off. So to all my anak macan, pls contact us if you wish to be part of this prestigious event.

Syahir and Azmi won gold medal for their respective school in this year’s Inter-Varsity tournament that was held at NTU on two weekends of June 2009.

Syahir played a rather cautious game and we hope that he would have gained more confidence the next time he competes at the finals. This is because Syahir always fight very confidently in earlier rounds but never have enough believe that he can win gold at the finals. We hope that this will change his perception of the finals and start believing in himself more.

On the other hand, Azmi fought with greater flair and confidence which made him having more composure executing the techniques especially the well timed sweep. He also managed to put in some effective kicks in the process.

This is my first time writing the network thing…  so here it goes…

• First of all, congrats to AZMI and SYAHIR for winning the gold medal for ur respective schools…I myself was very entertained when I watched Azmi’s fight.. All the moves that abg zul has taught has been executed with excellent and precision timing..  By the way,  Suria filmed Azmi’s fight and you can see up close all his moves..  Very cool.. I have recorded it so if u miss it dun worry.. For the others, dun give up k.. just train more and dun miss any lessons… hehe..

• K.. Talking abt lessons, we have just conducted a 3 hr olahraga session on 13 June 2009 at masjid almukiminin.. this is where you all can get a more up close and in depth training to ur olahraga techniques.. As this session is a more specialized form of training, a fee will be charged. It will cost $15 dollars per session and each class can only take up to a maximum of 6 people. It will usually be done on Saturday.. Time and Location will be decided once a class is confirm.. Our first session will be on the month of July.. So pls contact me or abg zul to book ur session. It will be first come first serve basis and classes will start when payment is done… Additional info is that this 3 hr session is not only restricted to olahraga techniques… If u want to perfect ur seni moves or other form (eg. weaponary..(we will invite guest trainers like abd Razali from Kembang Wali).., performance…(Shahrin will be incharge for now), fitness, etc…), u can also request for it..

• Next, we are selling t-shirts.. this year design will be a tiger claw on the side of the t-shirt.. It comes in 4 colours.. Bright Red, Cool Beach, Navy Blue and Rasta Green... Long Sleeve will be $15 and Short Sleeve will be $14.. Discount and Packages (eg. Family) will be given if more than 1 piece is bought.. So, pls contact me or abg zul to place ur orders… a order form can be emailed to you if you wish to order more than 1 t-shirt… Additional info is that orders will be processed once all money is collected… So, order now!!!!  (after we get a minimum order of 30 pc baru kita activate the order)

• Now, for upcoming events….

1. A newsletter will be issued to u guys abt the upcoming events in Macan if u come down to any gelanggang..
2. First if everything is as planned, a mixed martial arts tanding competition will be held at masjid al-mukiminin in the month of August just before the fasting month…. This competition is for all form of martial arts and it is a team event.. So, u can get ur frens from other martial arts to join the competition.. Prize money will be given to the winner of the competition.. Additional info is that this competition is open to male participants only and ur grp must be a mixture of different race…
3. Next, fasting month is coming in the month of August… So, as always we will close our classes.. So just see our newsletter to see the dates invlove.. Traditionally, we will meet once during the fasting month and Hari Raya to see how our anak Macan are doing.. At the same time, we can get to mingle with the families.. So, I always encourage all anak Macan to get their families involve in this 2 events…
4. As such, we will be having a breaking of fast session on a date which will be on the newsletter.. We will be having a pot luck session.. so to all anak Macan and their families  please bring ur food masterpiece for us to savour… hehe…
5. Next, Hari Raya gathering will be organised and transport will be provided so we will collect money for the transport … More info will be given during our breaking of fast session…
6. This year we will also be giving our donation cards to collect donations for our Macan Fund.. And as promised.. for those who can complete the card will be given a token of appreciation.. It will be attached to ur newsletter… So, I encouraged u guys and gals to help ur beloved perguruan.. The reason for us to have a fund is so that we are able to do activities for all our anak macans.. We will inform u on how much we have collected once all cards are collected..

• Below are activities in the early planning stage…

1. As i know and understand… u anak macans love to spar with other perguruan or different marital arts.. That is why we are in negotiation stage with some perguruans to have a friendly session maybe at the end of the year or early… That is why.. I encourage all anak macans to train hard (especially in ur fitness area) so that u all are more prepared for this frenlies and any upcoming competition… ( I will approach the perguruan after PSK 2009 )
2. Next, we are in the early planning stage of an inter CC silat competition… It can happen maybe this year or the next.. ( most probably either in Jan or Feb 2010)
3. I am personally planning an activity exclusively for anak macan and their families for end of this year (maybe another camp or wat…). That is why, I would like ur views on wat activity shld we have at the end of this year… and as always reminded by abg zul.. this time i will pay close attention to our budget… So to all anak macan, pls support me in this part by giving ur fullest support to our donation cards.. This is so that we are able to have more activties together w/o much worry on our budget.. hehehe…(need more people to come forward as organising committee for this, please approach us as soon as possible)

• Apart from all these.. this year abg zul has set up a kompang/silat performance group with help from one of our anak macan’s father, Abg Hamdan… So far our strength is 8 ladies and 5 men for our kompang side (incld Zafirah - in charge)  and 7 cute silat boys (incld Shahrin - trainer)… We will be having our first ever performance for a wedding this Sunday, 21st June 2009..(Alhamdullilah…it was one Heck Of A Performance!!!) I wish u guys luck in ur first perfomance… Additional info, any other anak macan wish to get involved u can contact me or abg zul…

Yes, we are going to have one more friendly session with Abg Jasni Salam’s Sendeng team for them to prepare for PSK. All my peers are disappointed that we are not competing this year but that’s ok since we can take this time out to form a formidable team next year…Insyallah

Perhaps there is a hidayah in all this… Firstly all our senior fighters have moved on with their lives ( I wish them the best of luck in whatever they are doing now) the current fighters are all involved in this years IVP and some just either started Poly or doing a major exams this year. The rest are still very new to the game and must go thru several friendlies before they can compete… Hence we also do not have any fighters to send this year and might as well sit out this year…

But I will be on a look out for more friendlies this year and I really hope the tournament at Masjid Al-Mukminin will go as plan on the 1st and 2nd August 2009… Please put in your thoughts about the matter here for all of us to see and share …

For the 1st timer, I hope all of you don’t take this session badly. You will only improve if you are willing to learn from your mistakes. Actually, I have edited the video clips of your mistakes that we can analyse. I hope by now you can appreciate the do’s and dont’s of sparring… this can be highlighted by viewing the shorts together…

Anyway the Seniors like Azmi, Fadli and Zafirah did not let us down by being able to attack and defend effectively… Sufeyan also did well to keep the set pieces when executing the front sweep…

I hope all the 1st timer now realise the kind of stamina one needs to enter a tournament and we will be introducing tough fitness routines to all of you later… This is just the begining guys, don’t give up and soon all of you will fighting like your seniors…
